The podcast Industrial Talk hosted by Scott MacKenzie was onsite at Xcelerate 2025 conference where they took time to interview different industry leaders, including Timenow’s own, Leandro Escobar, Director, Business Development. In the podcast Scott and Leandro discussed AI driven project management solutions for asset management, along with a general overview of how Timenow works with its clients. In just a short conversation they touched on some of the challenges we see in industries across the board, ranging from asset management to finding skilled workers.
Leandro agrees that AI has been an important development that’s changing asset maintenance and management. He mentioned that he attended a session at the Xcelerate25 conference to hear from some of the thought leaders in the AI sphere.
With these AI tools we at Timenow now have insights that we can apply to improve the reliability of assets. The Large Language Models (LLMs) there are helping. For example, the statistical data gathered that is then used to train the LLMs, helps us see the equipment information needed to make an intervention. It can also be used to help train technicians and give them relevant context for when and how to work on a piece of equipment or adjust a process. We’re seeing that this can be a helpful tool at a time that we have a shortage of skills and labor, as well.
Timenow does have its own artificial intelligence based on large language models to support these kinds of operations. It’s called Kyno. It’s been trained on all our historical data in terms of project management. These datasets trained the model we’re using to support our clients.
This brought Scott to asking what Timenow consulting does for their clients and if their services are mainly for greenfield projects or if they can apply to established businesses too. The answer to that is, both, Timenow takes on a wide variety of projects in both established businesses, business in transition, or greenfield projects.
Leandro explains that Timenow is a consulting business, originally started in Brazil and currently the biggest engineering consultancy in South America. To date they’ve been in the United States for about three years, bringing their skills in project and program management to US-based industries. They take on projects across heavy industries, oil & gas, paper & pulp, are among their biggest clients.
But that’s not all Timenow does. They also have project management and shutdown planning tools that can integrate schedules from different customer sources and software into one view, providing a one-page report to ensure better management of interventions during shutdowns.
Leandro makes a point of discussing the value and importance of providing skilled experts to their clients, which is particularly relevant in the current market of shortages of skilled maintenance and project management professionals.
Similarly, bridging the gap between generations in the industry is an area where Timenow is helping their clients to ensure the transition of knowledge and experience goes smoothly. Capturing the wealth of knowledge and experience from people about to retire and helping train those new hires needed to fill the positions.
Whether it’s taking on processes in need of optimization, helping a client figure out the best maintenance schedule for their many assets, implementing a tool for shutdown planning, or project managing a new – greenfield – facility, Timenow is ready to take on the challenge.
